Mike King
http://www.alaskatrailkingadventures.com/ King, 49, is from Guilford, Maine, but he now lives in Salcha, Alaska. For 20 years, King worked as a logger. Unfortunately, in 1990, due to an accident, he needed to stop logging. A week later, after going to see the first sprint race competition, King starting mushing. Since then, he has raced in the 1994 Valley Funally in Two Rivers (finished 1st), the 1995 Fire Plug (finished 27th), the Gold King (finished 1st), the 1996 Yukon Quest (finished 17th), and the 1999 Copper Basin (finished 17th). In 1997, King started guiding dogsledding trips in the Brooks Range, and then in 1998, he started Alaska Trail King Adventures with 40 dogs. In 2007, National Geographic Traveler presented King with an award for placing 13th with “Tours of a Lifetime.” When King is not mushing, he enjoys fishing.
